Room 105 at Hotel A'mare Zadar: A Story of Perseverance

Some buildings offer accommodation. Some hold stories.

Hotel A'mare in Zadar is one of them. Today it's a modern city hotel that welcomes guests with warmth, comfort, and Mediterranean character. But its story began long before it became a place for rest and new memories.

During the Homeland War, the building was known as Hotel Iž and served as a temporary home for many displaced families. In a period marked by uncertainty, fear, and daily hardship, it provided what people needed most at the time - safety and a roof over their heads.

Today, decades later, part of that story lives on in Room 105.

The room, simply named Luka, is dedicated to Luka Modrić's life journey. On its wall is an illustration of a boy wearing the number 10 on his back, along with the story of a dream that outlived the circumstances in which it was born. The story of a boy from the Zadar area who, against all odds, kept believing he could reach higher.

This isn't just a story about football.

It's a story about perseverance. About character. About how great achievements often grow from humble beginnings.

While Room 105 is a reminder of a past era, the hotel as a whole today represents something quite different - a place of rest, hospitality, and new beginnings. A place where guests from all over the world create their own memories in a building that has witnessed so many different human fates over the decades.
